Could there be any better way to stay in a fantastic city such as Hong Kong than at EAST? Probably not. This hotel is all about #viewgoals. Be it the view from your kingsize bed when you wake up in the morning or the view from the rooftop bar at night – EAST is an Instagram-fanatics paradise.

WelcomeOther than most of the stylish boutique hotels of the city, EAST isn’t located in trendy Soho or Central but (as the name may reveal) within Island East, one of Hong Kong’s best planned and established business districts – popular for the financial, advertising, media and publishing scene.
Arriving at EAST is simple and easy thanks to the super handy paperless check-in system and the friendliness of the hotels Converse-wearing staff (no joke!). Even though the hotel is declared as a business hotel, everyone at EAST is super calm and relaxed – a very favorable aspect, especially in a pulsating city as Hong Kong. Another great advantage: the house aka tower is connected to a nice shopping mall plus a tube station that brings you straight to Central in less than ten minutes.
But let’s talk about the most important aspect of each hotel: the rooms and suites! We were lucky enough to get a room only one floor below top floor, which means we had the most impressive bedroom (and bathroom) view ever. There is no better way to wake up than opening your eyes in the morning watching the cruise ships pave their ways towards the sea. And in the evening, as the sun goes down, Hong Kong turns into a blaze of lights making your 37″ HD TV a dispensable piece of technology. All you need to do is grab a glass of wine and sit down at the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Oh, but there is this one technical feature we don’t want to miss in any other hotel from now on: your personal smartphone for exploring the city. Including unlimited internet access and calls plus a very easy-to-handle city guide. No more hunting for wifi spots – AMAZING!
We’ve gone swimming in a bunch of fancy pools. There was this fucking beautiful infinity-style one on the Maldives for example. Or the chlorine-free one in London. Sure, they all were great, super relaxing and had beautiful views but the poolside of EAST is something we’ve never experienced before. Located in the comparatively lower fourth floor of the hotel this heated outdoor pool has the most urban view ever. Whilst swimming your lengths you are surrounded by countless concrete multistory flats – generating a very lost-in-translation-esque feeling.

And then, one night, we weren’t lazy enough and managed it to swap our 29th floor bedroom-view to the 32nd floor rooftop-view to enjoy some very tasty drinks at Sugar. Sugar is EAST’s own cocktail and tapas bar that is not only visited by hotel guests but also by the hip crowd of Island East. This is the spot where Hong Kong’s media and publishing scene heads to after work for drinks and late-night wind down. Cheers!
